NCIWL Folkstyle — Potlatch

About this event

North Central Idaho Wrestling League folkstyle tournament, part of the NCIWL fall series. Bring your USA Wrestling card. It's required for every wrestler, and for coaches too — coaches pick up a wristband at registration, and only two coaches are allowed per wrestler. Entry is $15 per wrestler, paid to the league at registration. No charge for coaches, family or friends. New this season the league is adding pre-registration so you can skip the registration line and go straight to weigh-ins; they'll share that link closer to the date. Format: six-man round-robin brackets by age group and weight. The league aims to give every wrestler five matches regardless of record, though some weights run smaller brackets. Two mats split into sections, with mat assignments called electronically through USA Bracketing and shown on monitors onsite and online. Age groups by birth year — Group 1 (6U, 2021–2022), Group 2 (8U, 2019–2020) and Group 3 (10U, 2017–2018) wrestle one-minute rounds on quarter mats in the morning. Group 4 (12U, 2015–2016) and Middle School (2012–2014, grades 6–8 only) wrestle minute-and-a-half rounds in the afternoon. Medals for first, second and third by win/loss record. Singlet or NFHS-approved shirt and shorts required; headgear is optional. A pin does not stop the match in Group 1 — wrestling often continues after the first pin is recorded.
